Health workers applaud Gov Alia over release of N130m for Staff Welfare

The Benue State Ministry of Health and Human Services, has commended Governor Hyacinth Alia for the approval and release of approximately ₦130 million for the implementation of critical staff welfare initiatives at the Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University Teaching Hospital (MOAUTH), Makurdi.

The intervention, which reflects the Governor’s unwavering commitment to strengthening the health sector and improving the welfare of healthcare professionals, provides for the payment of Specialist Training Allowances for consultants,

Medical Residency Training Funds (MRTF), the first batch of Nursing Uniform Allowance, and the implementation of the 2026 promotion and incremental steps for eligible staff.

The Ministry  announced that the Medical Residency Training Fund (MRTF), which was channelled through the Ministry of Health and Human Services, has been promptly disbursed to all eligible resident doctors, demonstrating the Government’s resolve to ensure the timely implementation of approved staff entitlements.

The Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Paul Ejeh Ogwuche who announced this in Makurdi, Thursday, described the Governor’s intervention as a clear demonstration of visionary leadership and a deep appreciation of the indispensable role of health workers in delivering quality healthcare to the people of the State.

The commissioner who spoke through the Ministry’s information officer, Vincent Ada in a statement, noted that the approval, release and prompt disbursement of the funds have significantly boosted staff morale, restored confidence within the workforce, and created a conducive atmosphere for uninterrupted and efficient healthcare service delivery across the State.

Ogwuche  assured that Governor Alia would  clear all outstanding arrears upon the conclusion of the ongoing verification exercise, reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability and the welfare of its workforce.

He further reiterated unwavering commitment to supporting the health sector reforms of the Alia Administration and to working closely with the management of Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University Teaching Hospital (MOAUTH)

And all stakeholders to ensure that these investments continue to yield measurable improvements in healthcare delivery and better health outcomes for the people of Benue State.
