6 dies in tragic road crash along Girei road as Police launch Investigation

Tragedy struck along the Girei Road in Adamawa State on Friday as six persons lost their lives in a fatal motor accident, prompting the immediate deployment of police operatives and traffic officials to the scene.

The Adamawa State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Friday, September 4, 2026.

According to the preliminary report, six victims died following the crash. They were rushed to a hospital for urgent medical attention but were later confirmed dead.

The circumstances surrounding the accident are still being investigated, with the police promising to provide further details as inquiries continue.

Police operatives from the Girei Divisional Headquarters, Federal Housing Division and the Central Motor Traffic Division were immediately mobilised to the accident scene.

The officers worked to evacuate the victims and ensure the smooth flow of traffic along the busy road, which was affected by the tragic incident.

The Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabir Umar Hassan, fdc, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended his condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased.

The Police Commissioner prayed for the repose of the souls of those who died in the unfortunate accident and urged their families to find strength during the difficult period.

The Command also appealed to members of the public, particularly motorists, to remain calm as investigations continue to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal crash.

Meanwhile, motorists have been urged to exercise greater caution while driving, obey traffic regulations and avoid excessive speeding.

The police stressed that adherence to traffic rules remains critical to reducing road accidents and preventing the needless loss of lives on the nation’s roads.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Adamawa State Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, ANIPR, said further information would be made available to the public as the investigation progresses.
