From Attah Ede, Makurdi
The People Democratic Party, PDP Benue State chapter said it has rejected fraudulent claims that Emmanuel Agbo is the Governorship Candidate of the party in the State.
The national leadership of the party, had on Wednesday 24th June, 2026, presented “Certificate of Returned”to its Governorship candidate in Abuja where the Ex-Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa was issued certificate as the party’s candidate for Benue governorship elections comes 2027.
However, pictures emerged on the social media of Emmanuel Agbo displaying a certificate of return as PDP Governorship candidate for Benue State.
Reacting to this development in a press statement signed by its Secretary Dan Nyikwagh on behalf of the chairman of the party Ezekiel Adaji, stated unequivocally and categorically that Emmanuel Agbo is not and has never been its Governorship candidate, describing the claims and publications as the handiwork of co-artist.
The party also said the claim, publication, video, or public statement suggesting that Agbo is its governorship candidate is a deliberate falsehood, a calculated act of impersonation, and a clear attempt to deceive the good people of Benue State .
It described Emmanuel Agbo as an ‘imposter’ and a political con artist peddling and sponsoring fake news for selfish and mischievous reasons.
The statement reads, “For the avoidance of doubt, the Benue State PDP had, through a transparent and unanimous consensus process duly affirmed by party leaders, stakeholders, and members, recognized Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN, as the authentic and legitimate Governorship Candidate of the Party for the 2027 elections, a process that was duly monitored by the nation’s electoral umpire body, INEC.
“This decision reflects the collective will of the Party and has been widely endorsed across the State.
“The PDP will not tolerate any attempt to sow confusion or undermine the unity and progress of the Party in Benue State. We have immediately commenced the necessary constitutional and legal steps to expose, confront, and decisively deal with Emmanuel Agbo and all impersonators of his kind. Impersonating a party candidate is a serious offence, and the full weight of the law will be brought to bear on anyone engaging in such criminal conduct.
“The PDP remains focused, united, and ready to rescue and rebuild Benue State under the capable umbrella of Chief Michael Kaase Aondoakaa, SAN”.
Efforts to get comments from Emmanuel Agbo who once served as State chairman of the PDP, failed as he did not pick his calls.
