Nigerian Engineer, Bola elected as new WAFEO Vice President
…….as NSE Pushes for Stronger African Engineering Collaboration

The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Headquarters has announced the election of Bola J. Mudasiru as Vice President of the West African Federation of Engineering Organisations (WAFEO)
The election which took place during the just-concluded Biennial Conference of the Sierra Leone Institution of Engineers (SLIE) held in Freetown from June 16 to 19, 2026.
The conference also featured a strong call from NSE President, Ali Alimasuya Rabiu for deeper partnerships among national engineering bodies across Africa.

Represented by the former President, Kashim Ali, Rabiu congratulated Mudasiru on his election and reaffirmed NSE’s commitment to supporting his work in advancing WAFEO’s mission of professional excellence, regional integration, and engineering development.
Mudasiru who currently serves as Deputy National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Highway and Transportation Engineers (NIHTE) has versatile knowledge in the engineering profession and serves as a mentor to the younger generation.
In his remarks, Rabiu said, “As Africa continues to confront complex developmental challenges, the need for stronger collaboration among our professional bodies has become even more imperative.”
He noted that governments and institutions across the continent are increasingly seeking sustainable solutions to critical issues such as food security, agricultural productivity,.
And also for supply chain management, energy generation and distribution, urban development, climate resilience, and the protection of lives and property.

“These challenges present not only responsibilities, but also opportunities for engineers to demonstrate leadership, innovation, and ingenuity,” he added.
WAFEO covers both the Anglophone and Francophone countries in West Africa.
