A former house of Representatives member, Engr. Peter Edeh, who represented Ezza North/ Ishielu federal constituency in the national Assembly, has endorsed governor Francis Nwifuru for a second term and vowed to mobilize support for his re-election.

Edeh, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, made this known while speaking to newsmen in Abakaliki, the capital of Ebonyi State

The former commissioner of education, Edeh,  rated governor Francis Nwifuru high in human capital development, rural infrastructure, investment in higher education  and peace building, and urged the youths and prominent stakeholders in the state to mobilize support for the governor’s re-election in the 2027 general election.

According to him: “The governor has done well. What I value most is the peace that we have in the state. The atmosphere of freedom, the atmosphere of people having the opportunity to speak their minds without being harassed.

“Next to that in my rating is his Human Empowerment Program by way of scholarships –  both foreign and local scholarships, and by way of making it possible for the underprivileged to rise.

“Those are some of the things I considered to be his major achievements. Of course, he has done well in the area of rural infrastructure. The road construction projects that are in the hinterlands are commendable.

“You can also look at the higher education sector. It’s not easy to construct a new university, let alone two at the same time.

“I was the first person to say unequivocally on national TV that  Governor Francis Nwifuru deserves to be voted to go for a second tenure based on his achievements, and I have not changed my mind.

Edeh who has also indicated interest to re-contest for the Ezza/Ishielu federal constituency in the forthcoming 2027 general election, expressed confidence in the governor’s capacity and willingness to ensure that political positions are equitably zoned to various constituencies to avert marginalization.

On zoning of positions, he said: “I’m a proponent of fairness. I believe that equals should be treated equally.

“At the same time, I’m also a proponent of competence. You don’t zone for the sake of zoning only.

“While  zoning, you also need to ensure that you can find a competent hand  wherever you zoned it to,  he stated.

Edeh, a former Ebonyi State House of Assembly member, further dispelled opposition parties’ claims that the APC was making attempts to run a one-party system in Nigeria and instead blamed the opposition for not having organizational structures formidable enough to effectively challenge the APC.

“They cannot blame the APC for their own lack of organization and capacity,” he concluded.
