2027: Nwifuru gives 3 months ultimatum to commissioners to complete ongoing projects or risk jobs

The governor of Ebonyi State Francis Nwifuru has given three months ultimatum to commissioners; works, water resources, environment to complete all ongoing projects under their ministry or risk their jobs.
Other commissioners, charged by the governor to complete their ongoing projects in the state includes; commissioner for Infrastructure, commissioner for Commerce and Industry, commissioner for Housing and Special Duties etc.
The governor, Nwifuru made this known through the commissioner for information and state orientation, Mr. Ikeuwa Omebe while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the state executive council meeting held at the EXCO- Chambers government house Abakaliki.

He said: “EXCO, after painstaking analysis of other state government projects, directed all ministries, especially Works, Environment, Infrastructure, Commerce and Industry, Water Resources, Housing and Special Duties, to gear up towards immediate completion of all ongoing projects under their jurisdiction within three months to avoid stringent measures taken against them.
The governor however announced the swearing-in of some newly appointed government officials; two members of the State Civil Service Commission, one special assistant to the Governor on media and Secretary of the Rural Electrification Board.
He charged the new appointees to work with utmost dedication and commitment to ensure the overall success of their duties.
Nwifuru further charged the secretary of the rural Electrification board and the chairman to ensure immediate provision of electricity within the rural communities of the state as a way of controlling rural urban migration.
Speaking on the area of education, the governor said “The first batch of the beneficiary of the foreign scholarship of the state government program are doing very well and have successfully completed their master’s degree program and they are already proceeding for their PhD programs.
“This, as you know, is 100% state government funding, like scholarships. We announce to you that the total number of 98 individuals of the state are the beneficiaries of the second batch of the state government foreign scholarship program.
“And whereas 55 out of the 98 had already left for their studies on the 2nd of February 2026, the remaining 37 will be leaving also anytime from now.

“Whereas the others, due to their academic schedules, will be leaving the country by September 2026.
The governor also announced the setting up of a three-man committee to carefully look into the proposed bill of ‘prohibition of sales and buying of metals and electric scraps’ in the state.
