……Says council is United under Ja’afar Loko

From Abel Zwanke,Lafia

The Nasarawa State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has debunked reports suggesting the existence of a faction within its leadership, insisting that the council remains united and intact under the chairmanship of Comrade Ja’afar Muhammad Loko.

In a statement on Saturday signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Council, Comrade Musa S.I. Danka, and made available to The Nations News in Lafia, the council described recent claims of a caretaker committee as illegal, saying it amounts to impersonation and impunity.

According to Danka, “In the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Nasarawa State chapter, we have only one tribe and one religion, which is unity. Anybody trying to introduce any sentiment for selfish interest will continue to face our collective stiff resistance.”

He maintained that the leadership of Comrade Ja’afar Muhammad Loko remains the only recognized and elected executive, with its tenure running until December 2026.

“For us, there is nothing like faction in the Nasarawa State chapter of the Youth Council. What we are seeing from certain quarters is an act of impersonation and impunity which will not be allowed to continue,” he said.

The Council’s spokesperson condemned attempts by individuals allegedly leveraging their positions in government to create division within the youth body, calling such moves “an affront to the rule of law.”

“It has never happened anywhere in the history of the Council that a caretaker committee is appointed when the tenure of elected officials is still running. It is illegal and uncalled for,” he added.

He further expressed confidence that Governor Abdullahi Sule would not allow any illegality under his administration, describing the governor as a leader who believes in justice, fairness, and the rule of law.

“To the best of our knowledge, Governor Abdullahi A. Sule will not allow that to happen under his watch. He is a leader who has so much belief in justice and fairness,” Danka noted.

The Council reiterated its commitment to creating opportunities for young people in the state to realize their potential, aligning with the developmental vision of the Sule administration.

“Our focus remains to provide better platforms for our teaming youth to realize their potentials and make a better life, which this administration of. A.A. Sule has been demonstrating since inception,” the statement said.

The NYCN urged the general public to disregard any group or individual claiming leadership of the council apart from the one led by Comrade Ja’afar Muhammad Loko.

“We therefore urge the general public to disregard any authority or group of persons claiming leadership of the council other than Comrade Ja’afar Muhammad Loko’s leadership,” Danka concluded.
