Ebonyi @29: Ohaozara council boss vows to foster unity, peace, sustainable development

….Tasks stakeholders to rally support for Gov. Nwifuru

The Council chairman of Ohaozara local government area of Ebonyi State, Aja Chinonso Consider has vowed to foster unity, peace, progress, and ensure a robust sustainable development in Ohaozara.

Aja made this known while addressing newsmen to mark the 65th anniversary of the Independence of Nigeria and the 29th anniversary of the creation of Ebonyi State.

He charged the stakeholders of Ohaozara local government area to rally support for the governor, Francis Nwifuru, to enable him succeed in his administration in the state.

Aja, however enumerated the numerous projects his administration embarked upon, which according to him, has impacted positively in the lives of Ohaozara people.

He said: “Today is a double celebration for us in Ebonyi State as we mark both our country’s 65th anniversary as an independent nation and the 29th anniversary of the creation of our own dear State.

“On October 1st, 1960, the fathers of our independence struggle achieved the great objective of freeing our country from British colonial rule. That day was one of immense joy and happiness for all Nigerians.

“As we gather here today to celebrate that historic moment of freedom, we also commemorate another memorable milestone – October 1st, 1996 – when our dear State, Ebonyi, was created.

“For me, this 2025 celebration is not only important but also unique, because it coincides with the honor and privilege of completing the two-term mandate to serve the good people of Ohaozara.

On the area of projects he said: “We have ensured good infrastructure by constructing roads, bridges, and mounting solar lights in almost all major areas to enhance visibility and strengthen security for our teeming population.

“In healthcare, we are completing the construction of state-of-the-art hospitals at Mebiowa Okposi and at Obuegu Mgbom Ugwulangwu. My administration has also made it a duty to continually support indigent individuals unable to offset their medical bills in both private and government-owned facilities, in order to relieve their financial burden.

“Education remains the pillar of any advancing society. This is why my administration has granted scholarships and paid WAEC fees for our students.

“We have purchased and distributed agricultural equipment, fertilizers, and seeds to willing farmers in order to further strengthen food security in Ohaozara.

“Commerce and Development

Furthermore, we have commenced the construction of the Odenigbo International Building Materials Market, Phase I, which includes a commercial banking centre. Ndi Ohaozara, we are achieving this journey together.

This is where we are!

“In the coming months, we shall commence construction of Odenigbo International Market Phase II, as well as the building of a befitting military base, strategically located to further strengthen security in Ohaozara.

“It is also important to note that the equipping of our newly constructed hospitals, the construction of the Ohaozara ICT Centre, and the completion of the ongoing hostel at Ihenu Umuchima, Uburu are all underway.

“I charge the good people of Ohaozara to continue to support and promote the administration of Governor, Francis Nwifuru and renew commitment to fostering unity, peace, progress, and sustainable development in Ohaozara, across Ebonyi State, and Nigeria at large.

“Let us cherish the values of unity in our diversity, oneness, and progress that our country stands for. Together, let us build a better Ohaozara and Nigeria that the next generation will be proud of” he stated.
