By Yagana Ali Yola.
Salihu Bakari Giere has formally declared his interest to contest the governorship of Adamawa State, come 2027 general election.
The Nations News reports that the declaration of interest by Giere looks like a campaign launch .
“I’m a product of struggle, perseverance, and the unwavering belief that no condition is permanent.”
Giere made this known while addressing supporters, stakeholders, and journalists in Adamawa, revealed that his upbringing was characterized by hardships.

He recounted growing up in a poor household, where basic necessities, including education, was often uncertain.
He described how he had to navigate numerous challenges—studying under difficult conditions, relying on the goodwill of others, and making sacrifices that would later define his character.
Despite these odds, he rose through the ranks academically, eventually earning a doctorate degree. His professional journey, he noted, spans years of experience in both public and private sectors, where he contributed to development initiatives, administrative reforms, and community empowerment programs.
According to him, these experiences have equipped him with the insight and capacity needed to lead Adamawa State at a time when citizens are yearning for purposeful leadership.
“It is the story of many young people in Adamawa who wake up every day with dreams but lack the opportunity.
.”I am here to tell them that it is possible—and more importantly, I am here to create a system where those opportunities are no longer scarce.”
Giere highlighted key areas he intends to prioritize if elected, including education, youth empowerment, healthcare, and economic revitalization.
He stressed the need for inclusive governance that gives every citizen—regardless of background—a sense of belonging and opportunity.
Observers at the event noted that his speech resonated strongly with attendees, many of whom appeared moved by the authenticity of his narrative.
Political analysts suggest that his emphasis on personal experience and grassroots connection may appeal to a broad segment of voters, particularly the youth.

As the 2027 political landscape in Adamawa gradually begins to take shape, Giere’s entry into the race adds a compelling voice—one rooted in lived experience and driven by a vision of transformation.
Whether his message will translate into widespread political support remains to be seen, but one thing is clear:
Salihu Bakari Giere has positioned himself not just as a candidate, but as a symbol of possibility for many in Adamawa State.
