2026: NASS member, Idu gives account of stewardship to constituents

The member representing Onitsha North and South Federal Constituency, Anambra State, in the House of Representatives, Emeka Idu, Wednesday gives account of stewardship to constituents.
He listed his 2025 achievements to his constituency, vowing to provide more dividends of democracy this year.
The federal lawmaker, Idu expressed gratitude to his constituents for their steadfast support throughout 2025, describing it as the driving force behind his legislative effectiveness.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of ADC party faithful in his Onitsha residence, he said that despite prevailing challenges, the encouragement, trust, and prayers of his constituents enabled him to remain focused on delivering quality representation.

He listed his achievements in 2025 to include, sponsoring and supporting key bills, including amendments to the Nigerian Defence Academy Act, the proposed establishment of the National Metallurgical Training Institute, Onitsha.
The Nigerian Ports Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2025 aimed at actualizing the Onitsha Inland Port, and a bill seeking to establish the Federal University of Entrepreneurial Studies, Onitsha.
Others were, moving several motions that addressed national and constituency concerns, notably on Federal intervention in Onitsha gully erosion, rehabilitation of critical road infrastructure linking Anambra and Enugu States.
Intervention in the Ogbo Ọgwụ Market dispute, correctional facility security reforms, and special admission considerations for Nigerian Military School graduates into the Nigerian Defence Academy, NDA.
On social, educational and infrastructural intervention,
Hon. Idu disclosed he facilitated the distribution of Federal Government palliatives and food items.
Also, the conduct of a large-scale medical outreach that benefited over 5,000 constituents, and supported education through classroom blocks construction, scholarships, and payment of external examination fees (WAEC, NECO/JAMB) for over 150 students.

Infrastructure-wise, he stated that he facilitated the repair of electricity transformers, installation of over 300 solar-powered streetlights both in Onitsha North and South.
Rehabilitation of non-functional boreholes, road construction projects, agricultural initiatives, and secured Federal employment opportunities for constituents.
He assured that 2026 would witness expanded dividends of democracy, reiterating his commitment to people-centered representation.
