‘we will behave like a true opposition Party In C’River–PDP

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),in Cross River State, Venatius Ikem has said that the party in the State will now behave like a true opposition, stressing that their silence on issues was quite strategic.

“Our silence was quite strategic, but now we will behave like a true opposition party because we have put our House in order”

Ikem said this in Calabar weekend when he received returnees from the southern Senatorial district of the State back to the Party who said they went on a sojourn to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and are now back to their “real home”.

The State Party Chairman while congratulating the returnees for their courage to leave the ruling party to the opposition urged them to remain steadfast and be loyal promising that it is a matter of time that PDP will bounce back in the State

“We are determined to manage ourselves gradually and take over the State, we lost the last election in the State because of the internal problems we had in our party and today we have surmounted all those problems”, “you are all welcome back today by the party.

He assured members that some people who are highly placed in the ruling party (APC) in the State will come back to PDP before the next general elections

Leading over one thousand coordinators from the southern Senatorial district of the State who defected to the Peoples Democratic party (PDP),the immediate past SA on youths mobilization to former Governor Ben Ayade, Hon Abel Bassey from Calabar south area of the State said, they took a bold decision by leaving the ruling party to join the opposition party

Bassey said they were all in PDP before moving to APC, stressing further that they have tested both parties and then come to their conclusion that PDP is still a better option.

“We the returnees today over one thousand of us were all in PDP before our sojourn to APC, we have tested the policies of both parties before we took our decisions to come back to our real family the PDP today, nobody lobbied us, what we have done today is based on our personal conviction”.The party stated.
