UNICEF, NPHC train parents on the need for children vaccination In Bauchi

The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care and Bauchi State government have trained male parents on the importance of child vaccination in the state.
The Social Behaviour Change communication specialist of UNICEF, Bauchi Field Office, Eki George said that vaccination of children reduces the risk of contracting diseases during an outbreak in the state.
He made this known while interacting with newsmen during a field visit in Misau local government area of the state, on a program of father’s for good health support group.
According to him: “Mother’s are complaining that male parents don’t give them permission in order to take their children to hospital for vaccination”
He said that’s why UNICEF decided to work with the national primary health care and the Bauchi state healthcare in order to inculcate in father’s the need to enhance good health of children in the state. .
The father’s for good health support group is a group of parents selected from various communities in order to get knowledge and encourage other parents that vaccination of children is very good for their health. the
“We selected two (2) local government areas in the state which is Ningi and Misau for our pilot studies and the interest of picking the 2 LGAs are what we call zero LGAs”
Adding that zero LGAs means the communities that their children have never received a single dose of vaccination, which is not good because it will lead to disaster.
Speaking on behalf of the male parents, Alhaji Yahaya Barde expressed their appreciation to UNICEF for training them 0n the importance of children vaccination.
Barde assured the father’s preparedness to enhance and support the group in order to take the training to other parents, so that they should cooperate with female parents in order to be taking their children to hospitals for vaccination, so that their bodies will look good and healthy.
