… false, he is a cultist, threatens us – daughter

By Cyprian Ebele, Onitsha

It is accusations and counter accusations galore in the polygamous family of late Onuorah Offite of Ifite Awkuzu community, Oyi Local Government area, Anambra state, as a step son, Ikechukwu Onuorah Offite, and step daughter, Ngozi Onuorah Offite, allegedly fighting dirty over sharing of late father’s property.

Fielding questions from newsmen, the step son, Ikechukwu, accused his step sister, Ngozi, of plotting to kill him and take over possession of their father’s property disclosing that she had already sold a plot of land meant for the family and the proceed shared between her and her only brother, who is a step brother to Ikechukwu.

“Ngozi, now a married woman, has for a long time decided to kill me,  leaving her husband a place to come and torment me, my siblings and  my mother (second wife), who is still wearing the mourning garment of our late father who was recently buried.

She beat my mother, who is her stepmother, broke my father’s apartment and collected all the documents meant for his properties when I was locked up by the police on her order.

“She took me to magistrate court and I defeated her, she locked me up at Enugwu Ukwu Anti cult, and I was released after they found out that my hands are clean.

“Just last Thursday in continuation of her plot to kill me and take possession of my father’s property, Police from Zone 13, came around 5.10am to arrest me but because they didn’t see me they arrested by sibling but our lawyer has bailed him and we are asked to report on Tuesday,” he further disclosed.

“Even as the matter is before zone 13 police Command now, she is also planning for another arrest against me because she knows the matter is all about property inheritance and she doesn’t talk about it in the police or in court.

“She will only be trying to draw sympathy in her favour by saying I am a cultist and want to kill her because she is fighting me for tormenting her and her siblings that are my step sisters and her only brother that has mental problems.

“I plead to Governor Chukwuma Soludo to come to our rescue because she wants to kill me and take over possession of our father’s property. She accused me of killing our father when I was the one that gave him a befitting burial. She labeled me a cultist,” he lamented.

In a swift reaction when contacted, the step sister, Ngozi, described his claims as fallacy stating that, “I am not interested in the property. It is about a month now that we buried  our father and we are still mourning, I am against his threats to life. He vows to kill us, he is a member of the Aye cult fraternity.

” He beat up our father and forcefully took him to a deity with his cult members and ordered him to hand over the staff, (offor), to him to be Chief Priest of the deity . My father was never a traditionalist, he was a staunch Christian and refused to take over the deity Chief priesthood post and Ikechukwu wanted to take it because he is not doing anything.

“Ikechukwu has severally been involved in criminal cases and it was in the process of beating my father and forcing him to give him the offor that he killed him with his Aye cult members and brought his corpse for burial after days of looking for our father’s whereabouts.

“If not for my brother that is the first son of the polygamous family that has little mental problem, (thank God he is getting better now), Ikechukwu would have known that his mother is a second wife who when my father wanted to marry her, we all rejected the marriage as she is not from a good family background.

“So because of continued threats to me and my siblings, I lodged the complaint at zone 13 police Command and we are asked to report on Tuesday. We want to stop him from being a threat to the family. I paid for his mother’s dowry and financially brought him up but today he has become a threat to the polygamous family,” she lamented.
