PDP remains a beacon of hope for Nigeria – NWC

The National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has said that their party remains the beacon of hope for Nigeria.

In a press release at the end of a high-level meeting by the representatives of the PDP National Working Committee and Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, governor of bauchi state and chairman of the PDP governors’ forum, held on Tuesday, that took place at Bauchi state government house.

The delegation of the National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) led by the National Legal Adviser, Kamaludeen Ajibade, SAN during their solidarity visit to Bauchi state governor and Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, at the Bauchi state government house.

The press statement was signed by the Director General of the PDP governor’s forum, Emmanuel Agbo and made available to newsmen in Bauchi. Saying that their meeting reiterated the need for internal cohesion and respect for the party’s structures, while endorsing ongoing efforts to reconcile internal disputes.

They emphasized the importance of unity and adherence to the founding principles of the PDP, including inclusiveness, respect for the rule of law, and the party’s constitution.

The delegation commended the courage and commitment of the Governors Forum in repositioning the party as it strives to deepen democracy and rescue Nigeria from the deep-seated problems confronting her.

They also felicitate with the governor on the giant developmental strides recorded by his administration in delivering democracy dividends to the people of the state.

They further acknowledged the historical significance of the PDP in shaping Nigeria’s democracy and national development as evidenced by the 16 years of responsible governance, economic growth, and infrastructure development. 

“The PDP Governors, as leaders of the party in their respective states, play critical roles in fostering unity and success at both state and national levels. The meeting stressed the importance of ongoing collaboration and regular dialogue between the governors, the NWC, and other party structures”

“The meeting reaffirmed the party’s commitment to its zoning arrangement of positions in the NWC, with the view of upholding the provisions of the party’s constitution so as to ensure balance, equity and inclusiveness”

They expressed dissatisfaction with recent events in Rivers State, where attempts to disrupt party processes violated the PDP’ constitution. The arbitrary formation of a caretaker committee and the 2 subsequent congresses undermined the party’s unity and democratic values. The meeting affirmed its support for His Excellency, Siminalayi Fubara, as the leader of the party in Rivers State.

“PDP stands in solidarity with Nigerians facing economic hardship due to poor governance at the federal level. The party remains committed to providing alternative solutions that will restore economic stability, social welfare, and improved governance. As a formidable political force, the PDP will continue to work toward lifting Nigerians out of the current economic difficulties and delivering on its promise of good governance”

The delegation were the National Treasurer, the Financial Secretary, the National Woman Leader, the National Publicity Secretary, and the North East National Vice Chairman of the party.

While governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir expressed gratitude to the delegation from NWC for their visit and their recognition of the strides being made in Bauchi State.

He assured them that the PDP in Bauchi remains united and committed to democratic values. 

The Governor also reaffirmed the commitment of the PDP Governors’ Forum to collaborate with the NWC and other party organs to strengthen and reposition the party for greater impact.
