2027: It’s Time for Suffering Ebonyians to Take Over — PDP Chieftain, Igiri

The National Leader of the Anyigaemeya Movement, Comrade Igiri Innocent, has called for a shift from governorship zoning to a merit-based consideration of candidates ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ebonyi State.

Igiri said the electorate should be more concerned with the competence, capacity and accountability of candidates than zoning arrangements being promoted by some political leaders in the state.

He made the position known while speaking on the political developments ahead of the 2027 general elections, insisting that the issue of zoning should no longer determine who governs the state.

The Nations News reports that the Anyigaemeya Movement is one of the campaign organizations supporting the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

According to Igiri, voters should assess candidates individually based on their track records, competence, accountability and ability to deliver meaningful development to the people.

He said the 2027 election should provide Ebonyians with an opportunity to choose leaders capable of addressing the challenges confronting the state and improving the living conditions of residents.

Igiri stated, “It is time for the suffering Ebonyians to take their destiny into their own hands,” urging voters to place the interests of the people above political calculations.

The youth leader also called on political actors across the state to promote good governance and support competent leadership capable of accelerating development.

He argued that leadership based on competence and accountability would create greater opportunities for the people and ensure that government policies and programmes translate into tangible benefits.

Igiri further disclosed that the PDP was making what he described as concerted efforts to strengthen its structures and position itself for the 2027 governorship election.

He urged party supporters and other stakeholders to remain committed to peaceful political engagement while focusing on issues that affect the welfare and development of Ebonyians.

He maintained that the electorate should carefully scrutinize the programmes, records and capacity of all candidates before making their choices at the polls.
