North east governors urged to tackle Boko haram resurgence, hardship

The Yobe state governor, Mai Mala Buni has called for a unified response to tackle the resurgence of Boko Haram insurgency and economic hardship in the Northeast region.
The governor who hosted the 11th North East Governors’ Forum meeting held at Damaturu, emphasized that there is need for a strategic approach to address the evolving security threats.
He urged the governors to work together with the federal government and security agencies to consolidate peace and security gains.
Buni, also highlighted the importance of economic diversification, citing the strain on state resources due to over-reliance on federal allocations.
Agriculture was identified as a key area for growth and job creation.
Buni emphasized the need to make the sector attractive and profitable to enhance food sufficiency, security, and economic prosperity.
