LG Polls: Niger Deputy Gov, Garba accused of imposition of candidate

The Niger State deputy governor, Yakubu Garba has been accused by stakeholders in his Local Government Area, Shiroro of sidelining major political actors and imposing his aide, Ibrahim Zahradine Dodo as the APC Candidate for the council.
The exercise which started on Monday has drawn flanks from some stakeholders in Shiroro local government areas of the state.
It was gathered that, trouble started when stakeholders from the Lakpan axis which has eight of the fifteen ward that constitute Shiroro local government area were mandated to screen and forward three aspirant for adoption and submission to the party and Governor Mohammed Umar Bago for the final selection of the preferred candidate felt short changed.
Confirming their grievances in a chat with newsmen, some of the aggrieved stakeholders threatened to work against the party if their grievances are not addressed.
Alhaji Yakubu Justice Kuta, Iliyasu Zarumi and Mallam Idris Adamu speaking on behalf of other aggrieved stakeholders accused the State Deputy Governor of imposing one of his aide on the people after promising the Lamkpa people of free hand in choosing their preferred Chairmanship candidate while the House of Assembly member has been zoned to kuta axis in 2027.

“We screened and forwarded three names as agreed, namely, Salihu Beri, Audu Galadima and Salihu Madaki, but to our shock a name that was not part of the list Ibrahim Zarandi Dodo was selected as our candidate
” This is not acceptable to us because over time we have strictly adhered to our internal zoning arrangement in the Local government, as things stand now, we have lost out
” The State Deputy Governor, the Commissioner from Shiroro, the House of Assembly member and Adviser and the incumbent Local Government Area Chairman are all from Kuta axis with seven wards while we that has eight wards are left with the crumbs of just a political Director General “
According to them, the arrogance exhibited by some individual in the former ruling Party , the Peoples Democratic Party led to its loss of power
” APC is not a worship house, who said what happened yesterday can’t happen again
” The cabal that pursued PDP out of power are gradually gathering again, if there is no compensation method then we are afraid for the party”
According to the aggrieved party stakeholders, the Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago should urgently intervene before the situation gets out of control. .
