Karu LG boss, Madaki sets to foster discipline, unity through Sports development

The Chairman of Karu Local Government Council, Abubakar Aliyu Madaki, has launched the 2025 Chairman’s Cup and urged corporate bodies, business owners, and philanthropists to support young athletes in the area.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony held at the Karu Local Government Secretariat, Madaki emphasized the role of football in fostering discipline, unity, and community engagement.
“Football is more than just a sport; it is a tool for social development, fostering teamwork, discipline, and providing a pathway for young athletes to achieve their dreams,” he said.
“Through this competition, we aim to create opportunities for our youth and strengthen the bonds within our communities.”
A board member of the Nasarawa State Football Association, Akeusla Segun, commended the initiative, stating that it aligns with broader efforts to develop sports at the grassroots level.

“This competition is a stepping stone for young footballers to showcase their talents and get noticed by scouts and professional clubs,” Segun said.
He also revealed that the unveiled items included championship cups for both male and female categories, along with jerseys for participating teams.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including the Esu Karu, Pharm. Luka Panya Baba, Chairman of the Karu Traditional Council; John Ali, Member representing Karu/Gitata Constituency; business leaders; local government directors; principal officers of the Karu Legislative Council; and political appointees.
The 2025 Chairman’s Cup is set to kick off in the coming months, providing a platform for young athletes to develop their skills and pursue careers in professional football.
