Hardship: ‘Stop hiking prices of goods in the markets -Ebonyi gov’s wife charges women

The wife of Ebonyi State governor, Mrs Mary-Maudline Nwifuru has tasked rural women in the 13 LGAs of the state to shun hiking prices of goods and food items to reduce pains and suffering amongst the people of the state.

Mrs. Nwifuru revealed the preparedness of her office to partner the wife of the President, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu to reduce poverty and hardship amongst women and children in the state.

It was gathered that over one hundred and ten displaced Persons benefited from the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), a project of the Wife of the President, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu in collaboration with Better Health for Rural Women, Children empowerment.

Mrs Nwifuru who addressed the beneficiaries at the new government House centenary city Abakaliki, during the disbursement of the various empowerment packages, tasked them to contribute maximally towards the economic growth of the state.

The governor’s wife, Mrs Nwifuru is the state Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative and founder of Better Health for Rural Women Children and Internally displaced foundation, distributed cheques of N50,000 each to the beneficiaries as well as bundles of wrappers, cartons of bags and educational materials for students.

She however, charged the beneficiaries who were selected from the 13 Local Government Areas of the state, to employ every possible means to reduce cost of their commodities in the market, to make life bearable for the people in the state.

Mrs. Nwifuru applauded the first lady, Mrs Tinubu for her deep commitments to equip women in the state, advance gender equality and make meaningful contributions to the society.

According to her: “Women traders contribute to economic growth. The programme is designed to equip them with tools and resources needed to strive, advance in business,”Nwifuru said.

In a swift reaction, the Commissioner for Education, Paul Nwobashi who received educational materials on behalf of students in the state, appreciated Mrs Nwifuru and promised to share the writing materials judiciously to students.

In a remark, one of the beneficiaries, Mrs Chioma Okenmiri who spoke on behalf of others, thanked the First lady, Mrs Tinubu and Mrs Nwifuru for giving women hope, especially during the economic hardship.
