Gunmen kidnap Road Safety Officer in Benue

Suspected kidnappers, on Thursday, reportedly kidnapped an inspector of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, identified as Nathaniel Terwanger Kumashe in Benue State.
An uncle to the victim who is a former Special Adviser to Benue State Governor on Transportation, Chief Yimam Aboh, confirmed the incidence to newsmen on phone in Makurdi, Thursday.
He said the incidence took place on Wednesday night being March 19, 2025 at about 10pm.
Our correspondent gathered that the kidnappers first fired gunshots to scare family members and neighbours of the victim before abducting him from his country home at Tse Aboh, Uchi-Mbakor in Tarka LGA of the state.
It was further learnt that the victim returned to his house from the wake-keep of his late cousin who is to be buried this Friday.
“Youths in the entire community immediately launched a search throughout the night but the gunmen were fast gone.
“Personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC joined in the search operation and the police have visited the community after the incident but yet no trace of them(kidnappers).
Reports however indicate that he may have been moved to one of the kidnappers hideouts in neighbouring Guma LGA of the State.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Benue State Command, Sewuese Anene referred our correspondent to the Road Safety Sector Command as she was not aware of the incident.
Confirming the incident the Public Relations Officer for Road Safety in the State, Ngozi Ahula said the matter has been reported to the police.
