The wife of Ebonyi State governor, Mrs. Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru has passed vote of confidence on the female lawmaker, Mrs. Esther Chidiebere Agwu, representing Ohaukwu North Constituency in the state house of assembly for her outstanding empowerment program targeted at reducing poverty and sufferings in the communities.

2025 constituency empowerment Programme held at the Ndiegu Igube Primary School field, applauded Agwu’s efforts in ensuring that peace and order are entrenched in Ohaukwu North constituency.

Mrs Nwifuru Who was represented by the Director of BERWO Mrs Nkechi Echiegu lauded the female lawmaker for her scintillating performances in the areas of peace building, constituency empowerment programmes, community engagements, quality representation and robust legislation.

She, however, assured Agwu of unbridled support from her pet project -BERWO to actualize her vision for the constituency. 

The first lady, however, charged  the Ohaukwu North constituents to sustain the existing peace  in the area being championed by the state governor, Francis Nwifuru, noting that no meaningful development will take place in a crisis ridden environment.

In a remark, the Chairman of the occasion, Mrs. Chinyere Elom said that the wife of Ebonyi state governor, Mrs Mary-Maudline Uzoamaka Nwifuru has set a standard in humanitarian services which Agwu is leveraging upon to better the lots of her people. 

She applauded Agwu for remembering to share with the needy and scored her high in effective representation and robust legislation.

Earlier, Mrs Agwu noted that she was motivated to empower the needy by the compassionate dispositions of the Ebonyi First lady who encouraged all women in leadership positions to always reach out to the under privileged ones among them. 

She equally reeled out some of her modest achievements in the past two years to include; installation of solar powered lights in all the 7 electoral wards, drilling of 5 boreholes, attraction of the construction of the road linking  Okposhi-Ndiegu Ubochi Igweledoha community with Ebonyi local government area.

Also, the training of women and youths on various vocational programmes and disbursement of start-up capitals to them, payment of school fees to some indigent students and the distribution of wrappers and food palliatives to her constituents among others.

She equally inaugurated committees to man her maiden constituency Unity Football Cup tournament, Bursary and Youth Empowerment Programmes among others. 

Responding, the former chairman of Ohaukwu LGA, Omekannaya Odah applauded Agwu on her commitment to delivering democracy dividends to her constituents and her inclusive leadership style, adding that she has performed creditably well and deserves a second tenure.

Others who spoke; the Deputy Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly, Chinedu Onah, the Executive Chairman of Ohaukwu LGA, Ikechukwu Odono and the Commissioner for Capital City Development, Sunday Elechi Inyima extolled the leadership qualities and peaceful carriage of Agwu, stressing that she has surpassed the people’s expectations.

Some of the Beneficiaries, Mrs Elom Chinyere, Nwokpor Ngozi and Ugo Martina expressed gratitude to the female lawmaker for the gift given to them and assured their commitment to re-elect her in the forthcoming 2027 polls
