‘Emergence of Yahya as NUJ President, a great achievement for North Eastern Nigeria – Gov. Bala

The governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir on Wednesday said that the emergence of Alhassan Yahya as the new president of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, is a great achievement for the North Eastern Nigeria.

He urged the newly elected NUJ President to unite and bring peace among members in Nigeria.

Abdulkadir, however prayed that the leadership of Yahya will bring progress, unity within the Journalism profession In Nigeria 

He made this known in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Bauchi by his special adviser on media and publicity, Mukhtar Gidado. 

The statement reads in part: “On behalf of his family, Government and the good people of Bauchi State, has extended their heartfelt congratulations to Alhassan Yahya on his historic and well-deserved election as the National President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ)”

He said that Alhassan as national president of the NUJ is not only a source of pride for the North East region, but also a beacon of hope for the advancement of press freedom and responsible journalism in the region and Nigeria at large.

Bala emphasized that the emergence of Alhassan Yahya as the first NUJ President from the North Eastern region as a remarkable achievement and a testament to his dedication, leadership qualities and his outstanding contributions to the field of journalism and unionism. 

The Governor wished him a successful tenure in office and prayed that his leadership would foster progress and unity within the journalism profession in Nigeria.

Bala, however assured the new leadership of NUJ that Bauchi State Government’s Commitment to fostering a robust and productive partnership with the union to promote transparency, accountability and development through a free and vibrant press.
