Upon the inauguration of the 10th Nigerian Senate on June 13, 2023, Senator Nwebonyi hit the ground running by being the first lawmaker to move a motion during the maiden plenary session of the 10th Senate challenging the incessant harassments and extortions of road users by security officials.

The vibrant parliamentarian has been outstanding in robust legislations including sponsoring of many people-oriented bills and motions that aim at addressing critical issues facing the nation as well as effective representation.

His relentless efforts in championing key legislations relating to security, education, infrastructure, economy, social welfare of citizens etc, are legendary.

LEGISLATIVE OVERSIGHT FUNCTIONS:

Senator Nwebonyi has over sighted virtually all the public Institutions in Nigeria and even beyond including Ministries, Agencies, Boards and Parastatals in Nigeria through his leadership roles as Deputy Chief Whip, Deputy Chairman Public Accounts, and Vice Chairman of ECOWAS Parliament’s Standing Committee on Education, Sciences and Culture and Membership of other important Senate Committees. He recently travelled to London for Legislative Oversight training.

PUBLIC PETITIONS/ ADVOCACY:

He has laid over 5 petitions at the floor of the Senate challenging oppression, suppression and subjugation of the Fundamental Human Rights of some Nigerian citizens across the globe.

The case of Ebonyi indigenes whose businesses were closed in Kenya and elsewhere in Africa: Mr Francis Chukwuma Uzor and Igwe Dennis Nwaokpara among others reflect some of his interventions in defense of the weak and the oppressed.

NATIONAL DISCOURSE:

Senator Nwebonyi has appeared on many National TVs including Arise, Channels, TVC, News Central etc to lend his resonating voices to topical national issues. He is unarguably the most featured Senator in National TVs for his informed contributions to national discourse.
