Divided house made PDP lose C’ River governorship election- PDP boss, Ikem

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Cross River state Chairman, Venatius Ikem has said that the party went to the 2023 governorship election with a divided house that made it practically impossible for the party to win.

Ikem made the disclosure during  the  PDP’s  Stakeholders  meeting that took  place at the  Metropolitan Hotel, Calabar  on Sunday.

“We went into an election with a divided house, and a divided house can not stand. As party, we’ve enjoyed unprecedented success and we took that for granted”

“This party remains strong at the grassroots. I take responsibility for the outcome of the last election and the way things turned out

“We’re going back to regig our party.we are going to  put things in place. I am  not proud to be a Chairman that lost elections in the state, but am proud that I come from a zone where we did something a bit different. 

“Let’s look beyond personal  interests, there are challenges we need to overcome. We need to reason with each other. There’s still enthusiasm for the PDP and we will definitely  bounce back”. He maintained.

In his remarks, the senator representing  Northern Senatorial District , Sen Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, was full of appreciation for the members of the party  for  keeping faith with the party despite  all the troubles after the election 

He stated that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC was not infallible stressing that members should remain steadfast and remain focused for challenges ahead in future elections. 

“I appreciate the enthusiasm of members of the party. I’d like to encourage all of us. The only thing that is constant is change. 

“APC took over  due to  the mistakes  that we made.  I do not think  that the APC is  infallible. The APC will definitely  make the same mistakes and pave the way for  us to take over. Jarigbe stated.

In his remarks, PDP Gov’ship candidate in the  2023 election, Prof.  Sandy Onor, asked the  party faithful not to be deterred due to the losses it suffered in the last year Gov’ship election assuring them that the party  would  certainly bounce back  to its feets again.
