Customs seize PMS worth 22.9million in 2 weeks in Adamawa

The Operation Whirlwind of Nigeria’s anti-smuggling unit, customs has seized petrol worth N22.9 million in Adamawa State.
This daring operation is the latest in a series of efforts to disrupt the smuggling of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and protect Nigeria’s economic interests.
The national coordinator of Operation Whirlwind ACG Hussien Ejibunu, revealed that 916 kegs of PMS were intercepted across illegal routes in Maiha, Mubi, Gurin, and Belel.
This intelligence-driven operation showcases the Nigeria Customs Service’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation’s resources.
The impact of smuggling on Nigeria’s economy cannot be overstated. Driven by economic disparities and the lure of quick profits, smuggling remains a significant threat to the country’s economic sovereignty.

Ejibunu praised the officers and men of Operation Whirlwind for their bravery, vigilance, and professionalism.
He also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest Customs office.
This achievement is a testament to the effectiveness of collaborative efforts between agencies like the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). By working together, these agencies can create a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.

In his remarks the custom controller Adamawa/ Taraba command controller Bashir said the cooperation of the general public is the key for the success of this operation, he therefore called on good Nigerians to inform their men on any suspicious activity of the smugglers.
He also assured Nigeria that what is made for can not be diverted to other neighbouring countries under their watch.

“With the dedication and expertise of the Nigeria Customs Service, the country can look forward to a future where economic interests are protected, and the rule of law is upheld.
