Congress: PDP elects Aliyu Halidu as new Chairman, other Excos in Niger

The Niger State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially elected Alhaji Aliyu Mohammed Halidu as its new chairman.
In a hotly contested election that started on Saturday and spill over to Sunday afternoon, Halidu emerged victorious.He polled a total of 1,289 votes against his opponent, the immediate past former Zonal Chairman of Niger North senatorial district, Yahaya Abdullahi who garnered 1,260 votes.
The former Minister of Special duties during Jonathan administration, Tanimu Turaki, SAN, Chairman of the PDP Electoral Committee, announced the election results.

The congress started over the weekend, with eight positions contested for, with several other roles being filled unopposed.The former head of Service in Niger State, Mallam Hadi Kuta was declared and returned as the state Secretary, while Salomi Ndakosu won the position of Woman Leader, receiving 1,373 votes to outpace her rival, Ramotu Jibrin, who received 590 votes.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman, Halidu called for unity among party members, emphasizing the need for collaboration to restore the party’s prominence.
