Bauchi Govt Distributes 490 Bags Of Food Items To IDPs In 3 LGAs

The Bauchi State ministry of humanitarian has distributed 490 bags of Grains, non food Items to Internally Displaced Person’s (IDPs) in 3 local government area’s that comprises of Bauchi, Tafawa-Balewa and Toro local government area’s of the state.
Hajiya Hajara Yakubu Wanka who is the state Commisioner of humanitarian affairs and disaster management disclosed this to newsmen at Boto IDPs camp in Bauchi.
The grains distributed includes; 265 bags of maize, 85 bags of 50kg rice, 140 bags of 25kg rice and 35 cartons of spaghetti, 52 gallons of vegetable oil, 10 bags of salt and 5 carton of maggi seasoning .
“Non food items include: 296 pieces of blankets, 296 pieces of mats, 400 pieces of plastic plates and spoons and 30 pieces of plastic buckets”, said Wanka.
The Nations News Nigeria reports that close to 1.7 million naira was shared amongst the IDPs in the identified camps where new IDPs are currently taking shelter.
She said that 7,205 IDPs, spread across Tafawa Balewa, Toro and Bauchi LGAs, were reached with the relief materials and that information reaching her ministry indicates that more IDP camps are springing up in other neighbouring Plateau State.
Wanka further said the visit will further afford her ministry to assess the situations at the camps and report back to the Governor for further intervention.
She implored the IDPs to live peacefully with one another beyond their stay in their respective camps.
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Chairman and Women leaders of the IDPs whose names are yet to be ascertained at the time of filling this report, expressed gratitude to the state Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management for the timely intervention.
They described the gesture as humanitarian and prayed to God to continue rewarding governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for the provision of food items and other valuable things particularly at this critical condition of hardship.
