DLA Reps candidate, Aliuna hails Nwifuru over Peaceful LG Poll in Ebonyi
.,…. Urges Violence-Free 2027 Elections
By Uchenna Okeh, Abakaliki
The House of Representatives candidate of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) for Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency, Aliuna Godwin, has commended Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, for providing logistics that contributed to the peaceful conduct of the recently held local government elections in the state.
Aliuna made the commendation in a statement signed and issued to journalists in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, on Sunday.
He described the peaceful conduct of the local government poll as encouraging, stressing the need for political stakeholders to sustain the atmosphere of peace as the state prepares for the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the peaceful conduct of the local government election should serve as a model for the forthcoming general elections, particularly in ensuring that citizens are allowed to exercise their franchise without fear, intimidation or violence.
The DLA candidate urged politicians across the various political parties in Ebonyi State to shun politics of bitterness and rancour, warning against actions capable of heating up the political atmosphere ahead of the 2027 elections.
Aliuna also cautioned politicians against treating the 2027 general election as a do-or-die affair, stressing that elections should be viewed as an opportunity for citizens to freely choose leaders of their preference.
He called on political leaders in the state to champion the right of citizens to support candidates of their choice, regardless of the political parties under which such candidates are contesting.
The House of Representatives candidate insisted that the freedom of citizens to identify with and support candidates of their choice must be respected, saying political differences should not become a reason for intimidation, coercion or violence.
Aliuna further urged politicians seeking elective positions in 2027 to desist from sponsoring thugs or other individuals to attack their opponents, supporters or campaign structures.
He said the state could only experience meaningful development when politicians and their supporters embraced tolerance, peaceful competition and issue-based campaigns rather than violence and personal attacks.
The DLA candidate expressed confidence in his chances of winning the Ebonyi/Ohaukwu Federal Constituency seat in the 2027 general election, despite contesting under a relatively new political platform.

Aliuna pledged that if elected, he would use the mandate to attract massive development to the constituency and work for the improvement of the welfare and living conditions of the people.
He therefore appealed to the electorate to support candidates based on their programmes, competence and capacity to deliver, rather than allowing political differences to divide the people of Ebonyi State.
