Methodist Prelate, Ali Aba tasks FG, Govs to fix Nigeria’s insecurity, other problems

…….urges Nigerians not to sell their votes in 2027

The Prelate of Methodist Church Nigeria, His eminence, Dr. Oliver Ali Aba has tasked the federal government and state governors in the country to fix the numerous problems, especially insecurity, hardship that is bedeviling the citizens of the Nation.

Ali Aba made this known while in a media chat with newsmen, shortly after one week of his pastoral tour to the Archdiocese of Ebonyi, and held at the cathedral church Abakaliki.

The Prelate, Aba further tasked Nigerians to unite and participate actively in the forthcoming 2027 general election to produce a credible and competent President and other leaders.

He revealed that the purpose of his pastoral tour to Ebonyi Archdiocese, was to enable him enhance the development of Methodist Church Nigeria numerically, spiritually, Financially and infrastructurally, 

Ali Aba noted that: “It is a privilege that we are all born Nigerians. And that we are in this country to work together as a team.To bring about our dream.There is a need for us to notice that insecurity gives birth to a lot of other evils, pains that Nigerians are facing.

“There wouldn’t have been hunger in the land if insecurity was not there. Today, Benue people can no longer go to farm.Plateau people can no longer go to farm.

Nigerians can no longer have confidence to go to a farm. And because we cannot go to the farm, we can’t grow any crops for us to depend on. 

And that is why we have what they call hunger and starvation,which is bringing about higher inflation to our society.Benue per se as a case study, was seen as the food basket of the nation.

But there is no food in that basket. It is only blood that is flowing through that basket. And it is not going to help the society of Nigeria. And so, Nigeria has issues, of course, to settle. And I strongly believe that we can do it ourselves.

“Because this society has been given special grace by We have been patient and praying, and we have been tolerating all that is happening. Take for example the issues of killings, bandits, kidnapping among other things are the enemies of Nigeria.

“It is only if Nigeria decides to be great, we can make it.It is a matter of saying enough is enough.When the leaders are blowing trumpets from two sides of their lips, one side is good, the other side is evil.It doesn’t help this nation.Let’s call it a spade a spade.

“If all the leaders join hands together to say the issue of bandits, kidnapping among other things should be over. It will be over within a week.

“Politicians are gaining from these problems. And so, they do not want it to stop. They felt that that is part of their own way of getting money from the federal government.

The federal government does not want to put itself in shame, they will go and raise money quietly and pay ransom to them. But the more money we raise giving to bandits, the more trouble will arise. Because they have seen it as a business, a lucrative business that they want to make out of it.

“Insecurity gave birth to other problems we are facing in the society .And so, we are trusting and believing that if Christians, who are people of this country called Nigeria, join hands together and pray very well, I want to assure you that God will hear us and will answer us. And deliver Nigeria.

The Prelate, Aba however warned Nigerians against selling of their votes to politicians in the forthcoming 2027 general election 

“When we join hands together.The election is coming in 2027. Whom are we going to bring to power? Are we going to sell our votes? The votesbuyers are everywhere.

“How much are these?You collect 2,000 to sell your vote.And the suffering you are going to face as a Nigerian is more than that 2,000. Can’t you think positively and make this place a better place?

He called on stakeholders to give way for peace to reign in Nigeria, especially as the election approaches, “we must find a way of creating peace.And to create peace, the peace must start with us, not with the head. 

“Let us begin to play our part and at the end, when we join with the president of the country, we discover that peace will reign and we’ll move forward. 

At this point, because of what is bedeviling us,Nigeria is standing still in one spot.And so,I pray that,all our leaders,who are aspiring to become leaders tomorrow, to be able to understand Nigeria and its plight,and be able to fix them” he stated.

In a remark, the Archbishop of Ebonyi State, Dr. Chikwendu Igwe said the church is committed to assist in the development of the society, especially in terms of education, human capital development, infrastructure and peace keeping.

He revealed the preparedness of Methodist Church Nigeria, in Ebonyi state to partner the state government to ensure an enhanced success and development in the society.
