A prominent stakeholder in Edda local government area of Ebonyi State, Hyacinth Ekuma Nkama has said that no body can fight or contest the emergence of Simon Oko-Onuoha as the incoming Council chairman of the area.
Nkama, a three time councilor and currently a Supervisor for works in Edda LGA made this known while speaking with newsmenn shortly after picking of interest form by the incoming chairman at the APC Secretariat located at CAS campus, Abakaliki.
According to him: “I started following politics as far back in 1979. And i know what politics is all about. The governor, Francis Nwifuru has made a lot of things very possible and easy for us, because the world internal democracy has been decided by the leaders that be.
“And so, when the governor choose the incoming chairman. There are people who say we are very comfortable with it, but we can’t fight it, we can’t contest it, but the Lord has spoken.
Speaking on the developmental expectations of the people from the incoming chairman, Okocha said: “It depends on him (Omezie), what he has in his blueprint. I can’t expect anything, because you can say it and the person do otherwise.

“So it’s God that directs. If God give him the wisdom and he did well, fine, come on. Our people will appreciate him. I can give an example.
“The man we called Mezia Edda that just came and will be leaving very soon. When he came on board, Mezia Edda was a kind of a rioting place. Killing, memming, dehumanization was order of the day. No respect. That was the kind of leaders we had then.
“I wish this thing would be hard anyway. But by the time he came in, he sorted the need of discipline.
“They started by bringing everybody together. What you are seeing today that is called elders council was never in existence in Edda. And it’s sort of the need to call the elders. They call the youth. He called the elite.
“All the working class, the political class, he said, which way do we go? We say we need peace.
“And as far as I’m concerned, even if there was no other infrastructure project he put in place, having given us peace, Mezie Edda has scored his goal.
“So, we will adjudge this man (Oko-Onuoha) after his tenure, not while he’s in office, because there will be psychophants that will not tell him the realities” he stated.
