WHO, UK handover equipment, training Items for Colleges of Nursing in C’River

As part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s health system, the World Health Organization ( WHO), the UK Government and some development partners have handed over equipments and training items to college of Nursing, Ogoja, Obudu and Calabar
Handing over the training equipments to cross river state government in Calabar, the Head of Health, FCDO, British High Commission in Nigeria, Juliet Whiteley said the UK Government was proud of the partnership with WHO, maintaining that as development partners, UK is guided by needs and demands expressed by states.
” We are happy to respond to their request and inline with efficient way, that is why we have this intervention to strengthen the colleges of Nursing and midwives in the Country”

Whiteley stated that the intervention is a catalytic investment which will allow the colleges to attain accreditation and this will improve the quality of learning for students that is why they are happy with the initiative
She said the Equipment Support for Health Training Institution ( ESHTI) is expanding capacity in health training equipment in six states including cross river state and infrastructure support, that can enable those colleges attain full accreditation.
In his reaction while receiving those items, the state Deputy Governor, Peter odeh who represented Governor Bassey Otu said the state was with the partnership maintaining that it will compliment was the government of Prince Bassey Otu is already doing in the health sector
Odey said the state government last month gave out some equipments and buses to the school of Nursing Calabar, adding that with what the development partners have given now will be for the development of the sector in cross river state and for humanity
The coordinating Minister for Health, prof. Mohammad Ali Pate in his remarks said Nigeria’s health sector is on the move because President Bola Tinubu has prioritize the health sector, and the states are also doing same in their various states
He thanked the development partners for keying into to our vision which is to develop the health sector in the country
” We have now seen the UK Government, the World Health Organization and other development partners coming to support and improve the quality of our students Nurses who are keys to human lives and the equipments will help to enhance their experience”, he stated.
