2027: ‘I’m not at war with works minister, Umahi – Nwifuru insists

The governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru has ahead of the forthcoming 2027 general election insisted that he has no rifted with the Minister of works David Umahi.
The Nations News reports that there has been rumours making the rounds in the state that the governor Francis Nwifuru is at war with his former boss, David Umahi, following an alleged disagreement on the choice of candidates that will fly the flag of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ebonyi state.

The governor, Francis Nwifuru in a statement signed and issued to newsmen in Abakaliki by the Chief Press secretary, Monday Uzor on Sunday denied of having rift with the former governor, David Umahi.
The statement reads in part: “Following the just concluded engagement meetings with the stakeholders of the All progressive Congress APC, the leader of the party in Ebonyi State and Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru wishes to express profound gratitude to the stakeholders who painstakingly participated and made valuable contributions to chart the way forward.
Investigation revealed that the Minister of works, David Umahi was missing in the meeting held at the governor’s office, new government House, centenary City Abakaliki.
The governor stated further that “The party remains one indivisible family where all the aspirants to various positions will be treated equally as agreed by the stakeholders.
“The governor Francis Nwifuru has no rift with the immediate past Governor of the State, and the Ministers of Works, David Nweze Umahi as being speculated in some sections of the Media by those fanning the embers of discord, rather they are working together for the progress of the party in the state.

Nwifuru said that “All outstanding issues regarding to consensus candidacy, if any, will be amicably resolved.
The governor further reiterated that he will meet with all the aspirants soonest
“The stakeholders , aspirants and party faithful should close ranks and make sacrifices where needed in the interest of the party” he stated.
