Woman paralyzed after being tortured by Anti squad in Onitsha

The chairman of Civil Liberties Organization, CLO, Anambra state chapter, Vincent Ezekwueme, has condemned in totality the alleged torture of a woman by the Anti Touting squad, which resulted to her being paralyzed since after the day of the incident.

Ezekwueme who was flanked by his Secretary, Chidi Mbah, and other members of CLO that included Vincent Udeh and C.Y Umeh, decried the attitude of the anti touting squad and urged Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo to come to the rescue of the victim.

Recall that few months ego, Mrs.Nkemakolam Nnamani, of 87 Oraifite Street, Awada Obosi, Idemili North council Area, was tortured, brutalized and wounded by officials of Anti-Touting Squad at Upper Iweka, near TRACAS bus-stop, and for the past three months she has been visiting many hospitals, just because she pleaded to the team to stop beating an elderly woman.

“My offence was that I was in a bus going to Asaba and I saw the team beating an elderly woman and pleaded to the team to forgive her. Immediately, one of them rushed to the bus, hit me with pestle and dragged me out of the bus and all of them descended on me, took me to their torture camp and beat me to coma.

“When I regained consciousness, they extorted #15,000 from me, saying that I should know how to keep my mouth shut. They once visited me because they crippled me with their pestle and became incapacitated. They gave me #50,000 and since then, about three months now, I have been incapacitated,” she cried.

” I am now incapacitated as I neither walk nor work. I can not wish my enemy what they did to me. When they were brutalizing me, an old woman, I pleaded to them to spare my life and one of them, Kabaka, used pistle, hammer and other weapons on me and disfigured by leg and since them i have been treating myself and it has engulfed huge sum without improvement.

“The only concern shown by the perpetrators was when one Mr.Kendo visited me and gave me pantry #50,000, I am calling on Gov. Soludo, Mrs Nonye Soludo and Human Rights Organizations to come to my aid.I am dying and my children no longer go to school as I am still owing those I borrowed money from for my treatment,” she further disclosed.

The CLO boss urged governor Soludo to visit her, pay her hospital bills and rehabilitate her financially

Stating, “We appeal to Anambra State government and security agents to fish out the perpetrators to face full wrath of the law.

Condemning the action of the Anti Touting squad also, Comrade Vincent Udeh said that Anti-Touting, ARTMA, Ocha Brigade, among others have become torns in the fresh of the people in the state and and appealed to Governor Soludo to overhaul the system and inject patriotic,selfless and God fearing citizens in the agencies for optimal results.

“On Wednesday June 12, Àn ti Touting Squad arrested Citizen Samuel Ezeh, at Upper Iweka, for urinating inside gutter.They took him and others to their torture camp and after payment of #15000 the victim was released.
