Sule Faces Pressure as Nasarawa North Youths Push Senate Agenda for 2027

Nasarawa youths under the banner of the Progressive Youth Consultative Committee have openly launched a campaign to drag Governor Abdullahi Sule into the 2027 Senate race.

The group, made up of 20 youth leaders each from Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon, and Wamba local government areas, was inaugurated at Mbako Hall in Akwanga, in what observers described as the clearest signal yet that the governor is under pressure to remain on the political stage after his tenure.

Ovye Waki Abimiku, immediate past councillor of Ubbe ward and State Ambassador of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria, emerged as Coordinator, while Hon. Confidence Shammah, Chief Clerk of Akwanga Legislative Arm, was named Deputy Coordinator. 

Others include Abdulhamid Mohammed from Wamba as Secretary, Lucas George Danladi from Akwanga as Publicity Secretary, and Abubakar Musa Yakubu from Wamba as Organizing Secretary.

Convener of the movement,Jaafar M. Loko on Saturday declared that the “clarion call” on Governor Sule was driven by his record of performance.“We cannot fold our arms and allow this kind of purposeful leadership to end in 2027. 

His Excellency has shown competence, inclusiveness, and a clear vision for development. We want him to take this same energy to the Senate for Nasarawa North,” Loko said.

In their resolutions, the youths vowed to embark on grassroots sensitization across the three LGAs, engage traditional rulers and political stakeholders, and build structures down to polling units to sell Sule’s Senate agenda. 

They pledged to “sustain unity among youths” and make the governor’s achievements the rallying point of the campaign.

Patrons of the committee include the Chairmen of Akwanga, Wamba, and Nasarawa Eggon LGAs. Eminent figures such as Hon. Kassim Mohammed Kassim, Executive Chairman of NSUBEB; Hon. Emmanuel Ezekiel Manding, member representing Wamba constituency in the State Assembly; and Hon. Mohammed Aga Muluku, Commissioner for Water Resources, were unveiled as co-patrons.

Special Guest at the event, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth and Students, Rt. Hon. Shuaibu, fired up the atmosphere when he declared that Sule’s record already speaks for itself.“This movement is timely. 

The governor has opened the doors of inclusive governance, empowered youths, and delivered on infrastructure. If he accepts this call, Nasarawa North will enjoy purposeful representation in the Senate,” Shuaibu told the cheering crowd.

The  ceremony climaxed with the presentation of the committee’s terms of reference and a group photograph of members, leaving no doubt that the push for Sule’s Senate bid in 2027 has begun in earnest.
