The Executive Council Chairman of Ishielu Local Government Area, Mrs. Peace Agwu, has picked the thirty million naria chairmanship interest form of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for re-election.
Recall that the Ebonyi State Independent Electoral commission, EBSIEC, has slated August 2026 for the conduct of local government elections, and will be taking place in the 13 LGAs.
Agwu collected the form on Wednesday at the APC State Secretariat in Abakaliki, amidst a large turnout of party supporters, stakeholders, and faithful who gathered to demonstrate solidarity and confidence in her leadership.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the exercise, the council chairman expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to run for the second term in office, describing the moment as one filled with joy and thanksgiving.

“I feel very excited and fulfilled. I thank the Heavenly Father, the Maker of heaven and earth, who made it possible for me to obtain the chairmanship form today,” Agwu said.
She also commended the leadership of the party and the Ebonyi State Government for what she described as the enabling environment and platform that allowed her to serve the people of Ishielu LGA effectively during her first term.
According to her, the decision to seek re-election is driven by her desire to consolidate on achievements recorded so far and to deliver more dividends of democracy at the grassroots level.
Responding on the N30 million cost of the interest form, Agwu attributed her ability to raise the funds to divine intervention.
“I want to thank the God of heaven who made the way where it was not possible. He is the one who made it available for me,” she stated.
Outlining her agenda for a second term, the council chairman assured residents of Ishielu LGA of improved governance, enhanced service delivery, and greater developmental impact, noting that the experience gained during her first tenure would be better harnessed if given another mandate.
“By the grace of God Almighty, there will be a clear difference in the second term. The experience gained will translate into better service for our people. God will make that difference for the benefit of mankind,” she said.
Agwu further emphasized her commitment to the welfare of the people, grassroots development, and the strengthening of party unity within the local government area, stressing that her administration would remain people-oriented and inclusive.

Supporters at the APC secretariat hailed her decision to re-contest, describing her as a dedicated and compassionate leader whose administration has positively impacted lives across Ishielu LGA.
