Politicians Intensify PVC Registration drive in Adamawa

TheAdamawa State joins the rest of Nigeria in celebrating Christmas 2025, politicians at various levels of government are leveraging the festive cheer to drum up support for voter registration and Permanent Voter Card (PVC) collection ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Beyond traditional empowerment programmes, health outreaches and gift distributions, office holders and aspirants are focusing on civic education, urging constituents to view the PVC as a vital tool for shaping the state’s future.
In Guyuk and Shelleng Local Government Areas, House of Representatives aspirant Golfa Mallim held strategic meetings with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, brainstorming ways to mobilise residents for voter registration.
Festivities Unfolding avd ddressing party officials, Mallim questioned the wisdom of trading votes for short‑term handouts, asking, “If politicians give you rice, wrappers or money in the name of Christmas gifts—things that last only for a moment—what happens after that?”
She stressed that responsible voting is the pathway to good governance, improved living standards and sustainable development.
Mallim called on party structures to take the PVC sensitisation campaign grassroots, noting that an informed electorate is key to strengthening democracy in Adamawa and Nigeria.

“Sustainable development, good governance and improved living standards can only be achieved when citizens exercise their voting rights responsibly,” she emphasised.
In a separate engagement, Mallim met Fulani traditional leaders (Ardos) from Guyuk and Shelleng, discussing issues such as welfare, security, livestock development and peaceful coexistence.
She assured the leaders of her commitment to inclusive representation and pledged to amplify their concerns within policy circles.
The Ardos hailed the meeting as “historic,” noting it was the first time a politician convened such a gathering, and urged others to emulate Mallim’s inclusive approach.
The Christmas‑season engagements reflect a growing emphasis on civic responsibility, with politicians urging citizens to prioritise their future by actively participating in the electoral process.
As preparations for the 2027 polls gather pace, stakeholders say voter education and mobilisation will be critical to ensuring credible elections and accountable leadership.
