Police, NSCDC, NDLEA, others brainstorm to end drug abuse, cultism in Anambra

 Police Command in Anambra state, in collaboration with Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and other security stakeholders, brainstormed on end to hard drugs, cultism and other social vices during a one-day youth summit held at Swisspoint hotel, Agulu, Anaocha local Government area.

The event,  theme: “Combating Drug Abuse and Cultism Among the Youth for a Safer Society.” was organised by the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN), Anaocha Chapter.

During the interaction, the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices POCACOV, a non-kinetic security initiative of the Nigeria Police Force, to expose dangers of cultism and drugs was highlighted. 

Also, the Police and other speakers at the summit emphasised the need for collective action among security agencies, community leaders, parents, and youths to address the growing concerns of drug abuse and cult-related activities.

They also encouraged young people to embrace positive values and lawful means of achieving their aspirations.

The engagement also featured the testimony of a survivor of drug addiction, as well as the viewing of several video clips highlighting the devastating effects of drug abuse on young people.

According to the state Police Public  Relations Officer, PPRO, Tochukwu Ikenga, (SP), these activities formed part of the ongoing efforts by the Police and community stakeholders to promote a safer and more secure society in Anambra State.
