Police debunks alleged abduction of Abuja-based online publisher, Onuorah in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command on Thursday debunked the alleged abduction of an online publisher, Madu Onuorah in the state.

The police.public relations officer, PPRO, Enugu State Police command, Daniel Ndukwe made this known in a statement signed and issued to newsmen on Thursday.

He noted that the publisher was duly arrested in Abuja with the assistance of police operatives from Ebonyi State Command and the aide of intelligence, after efforts made to formally invite him failed.

Ndukwe said that the arrest of the publisher followed the receipt of a written petition to the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, against him over an alleged defamatory publication he made against a US-based Reverend Sister.

He stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu ordered the office handling the case to professionally investigate and ensure that justice prevails. 

He called on the leadership and members of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), and associates of the suspect, to exercise patience, assuring that the needful will be done in the case.
