Police arrest 715 suspects, rescue 21 victims in adamawa

The Adamawa state police command on Thursday said it has arrested a total of 715 suspects in 2024.
The command emphasized that a total of 292 suspects were convicted and 387 others are awaiting trial, while 36 are under investigation.
The commissioner of police, Adamawa State command, CP Moris Dankwambo made this known in a press conference held at the officers mess in Yola.
Dankwambo, while breaking down the various offences committed by the suspects said that since assumption of office in Feb this year, that the command in effort to reduce crime and criminality has arrested 45 kidnappers, 40 armed robbers , 100 suspects in connection with rape /defilement.
He noted that the command equally arrested 260 shilla boys suspects, 35 for unlawful possession of firearms and 30 for other offences.
The commissioner noted further that a total of 21 victims were rescued unhurt from the suspected criminal activities in 2024.
“The command has reviewed its tactical operations to collaborate with Community policing system, Intense operational patrols,Raiding of black spots/criminal hideouts, Quick response to distress calls, Visibility policing/stop and search operations,Rescue operations And Synergy with sister agencies so that Adamawa citizens should sleep with their eyes close.
Items recovered from the joint operation are 432 Ammunition ,17 assault rifles and 5 vehicles/tricycles.
The commissioner, however, assured the people of Adamawa state that the safety of their life and property are secured, as his men are working tirelessly to ensure that there is peace and order in the state.
He however applauded the governor, Umaru Fintiri “for his support and untiring efforts to ensure that crimes and criminality is brought to the barest minimum, and to the people of Adamawa State.
The commissioner further expressed gratitude to the citizens of the state for providing useful information and prompt reports that led to the massive successes recorded by the command.
