Niger govt. to use Sports  as a vital tool in nation-building

The governor of Niger state, Mohammed Umar Bago has said his administration will continue to use Sports to  promote national unity. 

Umaru stated this while receiving the  Torch of unity for the National Sports Festival at Government house Minna  on Thursday. 

The Governor assured Sports administrators and athletes  of his administration’s commitment  towards  effective  participation in the games scheduled to hold in Abeokuta Ogun state from May 16 to May 30th 2025.

The governor who spoke through his Deputy Comrade Yakubu Garba  emphasized  on the importance of Sports as it is a vital unifying medium in Nation building.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s support as it’s ready to support and fully  participate in the festival, making Niger state come out victorious .

The Nations News reports that the National Sports festival,  tagged  Ogun 2025 draws close, and Niger State will participate in Sixteen (16) Sporting events at the games.

Earlier ,the leader of the team and member of the National Sports commission Ikana Mbora said that the Unity Torch stands as an invitation for all the states.

He explained that all measures have been put in place to ensure smooth organisation of the Sports Fiesta.

Also the permanent secretary, Niger State  Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, Garba Nuhu Ngaski, said the ministry is fully prepared  towards ensuring  that athletes  from the state make the people and Government of Niger State proud  at the games.

” we are preparing  to go compete  and come out top in all the  events we shall participate 

” So far we are entering for 16 events at the games games, all we need is the usual support of our Sports lovingGovernor”.
