Addressing the students, she attributed the challenges relating to menstrual hygiene to poverty, lack of access to affordable sanitary products, inadequate water and sanitation facilities and cultural backgrounds continue to hinder menstrual health management which contribute to some of the students being absent from school, low self-esteem and even health complication.
The Chairman of Ezeagu Local Government Area, Mr Vitalis and his wife, Mrs Joy Ndu who commended the first lady for choosing Ezeagu for the programme, promised to cascade it down to other girls secondary schools, even as they called on parents to learn about menstrual hygiene to be able to pass it to their wards effectively.
Some students expressed delight at the gesture and promised to put into practice all they learnt in order to maintain absolute hygiene during menstruation.
The event also featured a health talk/lecture on menstrual hygiene especially on how to manage menstrual pain, presented by the government house medical tea
