Gov Bago  Shutdown all public, private  Schools in Niger

Governor  Mohammad Umaru Bago of Niger State, has ordered the immediate shut down of all public, private, and Primary  Secondary Schools across the State.

The governor gave the order shortly after a security meeting with heads of security agencies at government house, Saturday 22nd November,2025.

The directive is coming barely 24 hours after the recent abduction of School children at St Mary’s Catholic School Papiri, Agwara Local Government Area of the State

According to Bago”.All Missionary, Islamic Schools and Federal Government Colleges should be shut down until further notice”. He maintained.

The Governor added”.All Tertiary Institutions in Niger North Senatorial District and other vulnerable areas in Niger East Senatorial District are to be closed down as well”.Bago emphasized.

The Governor enjoined  all heads of security agencies, Civil Society Organisations, the organized labour and religious leaders to focus on the rescue of the children, assuring that the government will continue to protect the lives and property of its citizens.

While describing the incident as sad and unfortunate,he noted that the overall mission is to see how the kidnapped children and other kidnapped victims will be rescued.

“.The number of children kidnapped from the St. Mary’s Catholic School has not been ascertained,  Department of State Service, Nigeria Police and other security agencies are working round the clock in carrying out headcount of the kidnapped students in order to ascertain the actual figure”.

The governor had begged for calm and understanding and prayers for all and sundry for the safe return of the kidnapped students.
