Flood: NEMA deploys team members to Mokwa IDP Camps

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Minna Operations Office (MOO), said it has deployed team members to Mokwa to oversee Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) following the recent flood disaster.
The team members are led by Ramatu Turaki and four team members.
The Nations News reports that the mission aims to ensure a structured, safe, and dignified environment for all internally displaced persons (IDPs).
It was gathered that the team’s core responsibilities include mobilizing available resources, maintaining order, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders such as NSEMA, IOM, UNICEF, UNHCR, UNFPA, WHO, NRCS, NCWS, PHCDA, FBOs, DIWA, the Tukur & Tukur Foundation, and individual donors from the State and host community.
NEMA emphasized that the Key activities for the team members include; “addressing Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) needs, ensuring access to clean water, and managing latrine facilities in partnership with the EOC Health Team.
The Agency added that: “New tents have been set up at Kpege IDP Camp, while Kwana Uku (an NGO from Kano State) has distributed men’s clothing, and UNHCR and Caritas have issued Non-Food Items (NFIs).

‘UNICEF has distributed cholera prevention kits, and NEMA, together with the NRCS, has conducted a headcount of IDPs across the two camps.
Although NGOs and donors continue distributing food and non-food items, both IOM and UNHCR have now concluded their distribution exercises.
It stated further that “Through regular stakeholders’ meetings, the NEMA team maintains strong leadership and guidance within the camp, ensuring that the residents live in safe, hygienic, and dignified conditions.
