In a bid to cushion the effects of food insecurity and stabilize affected households, the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has flagged off the distribution of food and nutrition assistance to vulnerable persons in Adamawa State.

Minister. Bernard M. Doro emphasized that the intervention is urgent, given the state’s complex humanitarian situation, driven by insurgency, armed conflict, and climate-induced shocks.

“The ministry is implementing its One Humanitarian-One Poverty Response System (OHOPRS) to bridge humanitarian assistance and social protection systems,” Doro said.

The distribution prioritizes displaced persons, vulnerable returnees, women-headed households, malnourished children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

Permanent Secretary Olubunmi Olusanya highlighted the government’s commitment to protecting vulnerable Nigerians, urging stakeholders to ensure transparency, accountability, and community ownership in the distribution process.

“This initiative is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Open Agenda, aiming to close humanitarian gaps and prevent malnutrition,” she said.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s administration has strengthened humanitarian coordination and security collaboration in the state.

The ministry is working to capture beneficiaries in the National Social Register, making them eligible for federal government social protection programs.

The distribution is expected to bring relief to households and restore hope to communities.
