Federal Poly Sacks deputy Rector over insubordination, leaking of official documents

The Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Wannune in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State, has dismissed the Deputy Rector, Ngurumun Doris Iorchir, from the service of the Polytechnic.
She was sacked as a result of her insubordination and unauthorized disclosure of official informations among other offences.
The dismissal letter as sighted by our correspondent in Makurdi, dated 18th August, 2025 and takes immediate effect, was addressed to Iorchir, who is also of the Department of Accountancy of the institution and signed by the Register, Muhammed Ndaeji who served as Secretary to the Council.
The institution noted with dismay, Iorchir, refusal to “provide some vital documents from her former employers, after two years of probationary period” indicating that she had something to hide.
Parts of the letter titled “letter of dismissal read: “At its emergency meeting held on the 18th August, 2025, the Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Wannune, considered and deliberated on the report of the Management Disciplinary Committee as it affects you (Doris Iorchir).
“Haven established the following cases against you: insubordination to constituted authority; Arrogance to the Rector; and Use of foul language.
“Refusal to appear before the Management Disciplinary Committee; Unauthorized disclosure of official information and your refusal to provide some vital documents from your former employers, after two years of probationary period.
“The Council, based on the recommendations of the Management Disciplinary Committee and in line with Public Service Rules, approved your dismissal with effect from 18th August, 2025.
“Consequently, you are to hand over, all the institution’s properties, identity card inclusive to the Chief Security Officer of the Polytechnic with immediate effect”.
Our correspondent however, gathered that Iorchir, upon being directed to provide the document that could guarantee her confirmation on the job, she decided to petition the Rector, Ashinya Tyover.
In the 94-paged petition Iorchir, sighted by the media called up allegations of financial impropriety against the Rector and immediately followed it up with two other petitions, in which she alleged that the Rector, Chairman, members of Council and other notable personalities within and outside the state were sponsors of terrorism in the state.
The authorities of the polytechnic had then forwarded the petition to the Management’s Disciplinary Committee, which deliberated on the matter and made its recommendations to the Governing Council of the institution, leading to her sack.
A source within the Polytechnic who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent in confidence that additionally one of the things that earned her the sack was that she had allegedly not exhausted all internal mechanisms of resolving conflicts before taking the matter to the public domain.
The source further said that soon as dismissed staff submitted the first petition to Council, she took it to the public space and followed it with two other petitions wherein she allegedly accused some notable persons as being sponsors of terrorism.
