EYN IDP Camp Malko’i emerges winner in Binos’s Chess tournament

The Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe Schools Chess Tournament has ended in a thrilling finale, with EYN IDP Camp Malko’i emerging as the overall winner.
The tournament, sponsored by Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe, brought together secondary school students from across Adamawa State to compete in a battle of wits and strategic thinking.
Senator Binos, a known advocate for intellectual development, sponsored the tournament to support Vivian Ibrahim’s efforts in promoting Chess in the state, particularly among Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). “Chess is a game that develops the mind, keeps people engaged, and takes people off the street,” Senator Binos said.
Vivian Ibrahim, Founder of Queenvee Chess Academy, emphasized the benefits of Chess, saying it “sharpens the brain” and “connects you with high-profile personalities.” She added that Chess requires strategic thinking and critical analysis to outmaneuver opponents.

The tournament, now in its third edition, aimed to foster socialization among children in IDP camps and those outside the camps. The event saw St. Peter’s Junior Seminary and GDSS Karewa emerge second and third positions, respectively.
Nugwa Timothy and Yohanna Bulus, the overall winners in the female and male categories, expressed their joy and gratitude for the opportunity to participate in the tournament. They described Chess as a game for critical thinkers and people with deep reasoning and high-level strategies.
The Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe Schools Chess Tournament has demonstrated the positive impact of Chess on young minds, promoting critical thinking, strategic planning, and socialization.
