Enugu CP warns officers against unprofessional behaviour, corrupt practices

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, in line with his commitment to fostering people oriented friendly policing, has charged police officers on proactive policing and zero tolerance towards unprofessional behavior and corrupt practices.
In a press statement sent by the Police public relations officer Enugu State Command Daniel Ndukwe said that the CP made this charge during a strategic meeting with senior officers of the Command which was held at the state headquarters on Wednesday.
Giwa during this meeting outlined key measures aimed at enhancing proactive and results-driven policing in the state. He charged the officers to diligently implement and uphold these strategies within their respective areas of responsibility.

Reiterating the importance of ethical conduct and reaffirming his zero-tolerance stance toward unprofessional behaviour, extortion, and other corrupt practices. He specifically warned officers, particularly Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), against demanding or accepting money from citizens before complaints are formally received and documented by Charge Room Officers.
The CP further warned that DPOs and supervisory officers would be held vicariously liable for any such misconduct under their watch.
The strategic meeting was attended by members of the Command’s Management Team, Area Commanders, Commanding Officers of Police Mobile Force (PMF) Squadrons, DPOs, and Heads of Tactical Squads.
