Ebonyi LP demands immediate prosecution of Abure for alleged forgery, perjury

The Labour Party in Ebonyi State has called for the prosecution of the embattled National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure for alleged forgery and perjury.

Recall that,.Abure has been having running battles with some members of the party in the state over allegations of substituting candidates in the 2023 general election without the consent of the affected aspirants.

The Chairman, State Transition Committee of the party, Igiri Innocent who made the call at a Press conference in Abakaliki shortly after its State wide stakeholders meeting appealed to the Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi to prosecute Abure as directed by the Inspector General of Police Mr. Kayode Egbetokun on the matter between the leader of LP in Ebonyi State Splendour Oko Eze.

Igiri said: “The Nigeria Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mr. Latif Fagbemi SAN, should do everything within the ambit of the constitution of the FRN 1999 as amended in union with other laws of the land and prosecute Barrister Julius Abure for forgery perjury and financial malfeasance as directed by the Inspector General of Police Mr. Kayode Egbetokun on the matter between the leader of LP in Ebonyi State, Splendour Oko Eze vs Julius Abure and others.

“This matter is before you sir, and we the leaders of the Labour Party Ebonyi State Transition Committee are calling on you to charge the matter to court. That file has stayed long on your table. We took a very far journey to get to the IGP, and a farther journey to finally get to your office, and we won’t be tired until we see justice prevail”.

The party further commended the Attorney General of the Federation for the good move towards LGA autonomy in the country and encouraged him to pursue the agenda with vigor and speed as this if achieved will transform a lot of rural communities into developing urban communities in a short period of time.

The Party however advised LP faithfuls in the State to distance themselves from anything that is illegal and unconstitutional.

“We want to also use this same opportunity more importantly to advice LP faithfuls in Ebonyi State to distance themselves from anything that is illegal and unconstitutional, as we continue to warn anyone parading him/herself as member(s) of Labour Party in Ebonyi State or hoping to hid under our peaceful LP movement aiming to put confusion in our peaceful party and thereby create chaos in our peaceful Ebonyi State to have a rethink and allow us to breathe because we will not hide any perpetrator of crime under our roof” he stated.
