Catholic student doctors release names of 20 Unijos, Unimaid students abducted by kidnappers in Benue

The Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FCMDS), on Friday night, reportedly released the full names of her kidnapped members.

Recall that the Benue State Police Command, had earlier confirmed that some students, from the University of Maiduguri and University of Jos, were  kidnapped by unknown criminals in the State.

The command’s spokesperson, SP Catherine Anene who confirmed the development to The Nations News Nigeria in Makurdi, said the students were travelling together in two  buses when they were intercepted by some criminals after Otukpo town and were taken to an unknown destination.

According to SP Anene the incident happened around 7pm on Thursday along the Otukpo- Enugu federal highway area of Benue State. 

However, the umbrella body of the medical students has come out with the names of those abducted by the armed criminals.

They gave the names of the affected victims to includes; (1)Boniface Tizhe, (2)Thomas Yahaya, (3)Gabriel Jita Iwev, (4)Boniface Okon, (5)Dondo Fabian, (6)John Bitrus Naga, (7)Fortune Chima Umeh, (8)Godwin Gregory Tumba, (9)Monica Ejembi, (10)Ogbonna George Chukwuebuka.

Others  are ; (11)Paul Nyampa Zira, (12)Lawrence Victory Adaugo, (13) Okopi Peter, (14)Enger Benedicta, (15)Kwaghaondo Aondona Kingsley, (16)Paul Shantong and (17)Victoria Cornelius, as well as (18)Pius Samson, (19)Okan Adara and (20)Dr. Luis Mmbamonyeukwu a House Officer.

 An X account that reports issues in the medical field – @Nigerian_Doctor – who also shared the information, appealed to security agencies for urgent intervention to rescue the students and free the families from the trauma.

It wrote: “A House Officer (Dr Louis) and 20+ Medical and Dental Students have reportedly been kidnapped!

“These students, from University of Maiduguri and University of Jos, were traveling for their Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu.

“They were reportedly abducted somewhere in Benue State, not far from Otukpo, judging by their last known location. We plead for your urgent intervention.”it stated.
