Bauchi: Gov, Bala Commissions Medical Oxygen Plant, Mammography Centre In Azare

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir on Tuesday commissioned a Medical Oxygen Plant and Mammography Centre in Azare, Katagum local government area of the state.

Governor Bala who spoke during the commissioning held at the General Hospital Azare,.said that the occasion marks a significant milestone in the continuous journey to uplift and enhance healthcare services in Bauchi State.

Bala Mohammed who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Muhammed Auwal Jatau, expressed appreciation to UNICEF for the generous and unwavering support in making the project a reality.

He said that the commitment of UNICEF really improved the health and well-being of the people of Bauchi State.

According to him,q “It is partnership of this nature that illuminates the path towards sustainable development and enhanced healthcare services. It is in time like this that support is required from our Partners knowing the realities of the current global economic predicaments, particularly developing nations like Nigeria”

“Medical oxygen is a vital component in healthcare, essential for the treatment of various ailments, particularly respiratory illnesses, and key in addressing life- threatening maternal and newborn emergencies”

Bala added that “The commissioning of this Medical Oxygen Plant signifies our determination to reduce morbidity and mortality rates associated with such conditions. 

“With this facility, we are not only expanding the capacity of General Hospital Azare as a secondary healthcare facility, but also positively transforming the healthcare landscape of Bauchi State and our neighbouring States”

He further said that “Healthcare is a fundamental right, and it is our duty as a Government to ensure that our citizens have access to quality medical services. We understand the myriad of challenges facing our Health Sector, which include limited medical human resource, inadequate infrastructure and equipment. Consequently, we have prioritised healthcare in our development agenda. The launch of this Medical Oxygen Plant is a testament to our commitment”

“As you are aware, at the inception of this Administration, I declared a State of Emergency in the Health Sector which means some bureaucratic protocols bye-passed to achieve the desired goals in the Health Sector. We have also convened the First Comprehensive Health Summit which drew the blueprint for our Health Sector” he stated.
